Bon Voyage 29 Party

 My  gorgeous friend Jen has been telling her husband for 7 yrs that 

when she turns 30 she wanted to be on a 

cruise ship away from everyone 

so she does not have to be home reveling

in the fact that she is "Old"

 Unfortunately, they are saving for a house and 

cannot do both the cruise and the house

so I decided to throw her a "Boy Voyage 29" Party

with a cruise theme.

For the invites I used a clip art of an anchor

I clicked on the picture set text wrapping to be behind text

recolored the anchor to blue tint to match the blue on the invites.

I cut the  dark blue paper long ways in half at 5 1/2 inches  and 

did the same to the light blue paper...cut it in half first and then shaved an extra 

1/2 " off each side to create the graduated border.

I used the Cricut cartridge "Pack your Bags" which was on sale

this week for 19.99 at Michaels this week.

The wheel was cut at 4" 

The party is in October and there will be more

Envelopes

Sound Like a Cruise

to make sure that the guests heard the ocean we brought in

the noisemaker that we have in my daughters room to 

create the sound of waves crashing as we chattered about.

I know we think of Hawaii when we think of Leis but I thought that we should 

give them out at the door to everyone when they boarded when "Ship" to help them 

get into the spirit of the party.

When I set up the table I created a Nautical theme by adding 

shells, black and blue table runner for only 3 dollars each at

tableclothfactory.com.

I had the oblong tablecloth and used boxes underneath to give height to the 

food and decor.  I bought these 2 boats on eBay for 12.00 ea 

and the shells napkins and plates and packs of star fishes were 50 cents a pack on clearance at Michael's.

Food was provided by Aldi for 50.00 including fruit, croissants, cheese,veggies, chips, dip,

pickles & condiments

  

I used my cricut cutter for Pack your bags...

the same cartridge I used for the invites to cut out

dolphins, and captain's wheels, at 2" glued them

to toothpicks and places them in the food trays

My co-host Nicki made the sign for her party for under 2.00

with paper supplies from Michael's.

Already had the cups so I bought a bag of oranges at Aldi

sliced them up and added a little umbrella to eat cup

to dress them up.

Finally,

using my cricut I made a sign with 2 8 1/2" x 11 1/2" 

card stock paper.  Using my paper cutter I cropped the darker

brown sheet of paper 1/2" smaller for demension to frame the letters on.

Using the "Pack your Bags" cricut cartridge

I cut out a camera and then the "School Book" Cartridge and the Roly Poly font.

The "P" and the "B" at 3" & the rest of the letters

at 2" glued them to the paper

I Found a pack of invites on Sale at Michales

for 9.99.  I had a 25% off coupon off everything 

including sale items so they were only 7.50 for 40.

I used my cricut cartridge to cut out the letters 

from the "School Book" disk set at 2"

The hearts were set at 2 1/2"

For the invites I used a clip are of a umbrella

I clicked on the picture set text wrapping to be behind text

recolored the umbrella that had a green

tint to it to grey scale and centered it on the page.

Then I used butterfly cutouts that I have from Martha Stewart

bent them in half & glued them to the page.

For the Wrap around, I cut the card stock at 1" for the 

brown and 1/2" for the pink.

Murder Mystery Party

Invitations

I found this invitation kit at Walmart clearance for 10.00

There are 50 invitations and 50 reply cards

Theye were a simple black and white design so I used the Chic Halloween

Cricut cartridge and cut out the mask at 2" and the chandelier at 2"

Then I cut Black and white card stock paper the long way to wrap around the invite.

Black paper 2" thick and white paper 1/2 " thick and glued the white paper on the

black to make a white and black band around the invite.

Then I put the mask I cut out on top of the band and glued it together.

For the invites I also used a JPEG inage that I found on line of a magnifying glass

and set it behind the text.

For the font of the text I downloaded a free Halloween font from

http://www.fontspace.com/boltonbros/fiddums-family

WE got the invitation kit "Murder at Mardi Gras"

Which is why I chose the masks and chandelier.

The kit comes with invitations name tags and Character info but 

I always like to make my own.

I had many requests from friends about the character they would be

so they could start shopping for costumes so I printed up

 these cards on the reply cards to give them the info they should know about

who they will be.

The rest of the characters info will be given at the party.

Since the set only came with 8 characters

I created 4 supporting characters to

give to husbands and wives or guests who might not be into 

playing a role through out the party.

I bought name place cards at Michael s with a 40%'coupon
for 3.00 for 40.  Most of which I will use next party.
I bought a pack of 12 place card holders at Michael's for 24.00 but with the
50% off coupon they were 12.00.
I coordinated everything to mach the invites by putting masks on the
place cards that I cut with my cricut at 1"
I also cut masks for each place and attached a wooden BBQ skewer
to them.
The whole party was black and white to match the invites
(plus, I thinkMardi Gras colors are kinda tacky).
Under each white plate instead of a charger I used
a 12x12 cardstock piece of paper.
White table cloth and white napkins.

Boy had the traditional Mask shape and

ladies got the more feminine mask

For dinner we has a friend make us Brisket.
I made Red Potatoes, Asparagus, and we had a salad
Total cost for dinner including brisket for 12 was 60.00
I made cupcakes and put the chandeliers that I also
used on the invites on toothpicks and stick them into the
cupcakes.
White frosting with black masks, chandeliers Candelabra's  ect.

Everyone came dressed the part.
Maid, Chef, Jazz Musician, Gothic Writer,
Gator Sausage maker ect...
We all had a ball.
